Promise Controller in 2000

A client of mine wants to mirror two hard drives. Their IDE scheme looks like this:
2 cdroms
3 hard drives (all WD 20 gig 7200 rpm)
1 zip drive

They really want to run 2000 as their OS. So I installed a Promise Controller card that has the mirroring support. The problem that I’m having is that when windows 2000 goes to load the kernal, the OS bombs. As long as they are using the promise card the OS will not load. Any help?
