proper protocol for 2000 pro

I am running in to a serious lag when trying to talk between 98 systems and 2000 systems, will only run with netbeui and then I get a 2 minute lag from the server to the workstation...using all in one ASUS boards...put in another netword card and itworks?

You didn't say how they are connected - if
through a switch, it is likeley the
problem is how the connections on the 98
machine autosynch with the switch. Some cards
/switches combinations don't auto synch well and can be more sensitive to voltage loss from poor cables or low voltage out put
from the card. If you have a managed switch,
check the error counts on the port with the
slow connections, then
try locking port to 100/half and use network
contol panel->adapter->properties to set the
speed to 100/half on the 9x machine, if the driver allows you to. Another quick trouble shoot is to put another hub or switch between the 9x system and switch and see if that changes things.

Greetings,

You say that it work ONLY with NETBEUI? I would want it to be configured ONLY for TCP/IP. But before that, I'd remove NETBEUI and IPX/SPX.

That should eliminate the lag time you're experiencing.
