Protected Files prevent Adminpak install

By Joe Donahue ·
I just installed a Win2k workstation on my Win2k network and was unable to install the adminpak.msi for remote administration. It starts copying files and 90% of the way through it stops at: WINNT\system32\schmmgmt.msc and gives me this error message: Windows installer service cannot update one or more protected windows files.
I tried to load it from the 1386 folder on the W2k advanced server CD as well as from the server itself. I tried it logged on as the Domain admin as well as the Local admin but still had no luck. If anyone knows what the problem is please reply ASAP. Thanks

Did it install the other tools before it bombed out on this one (the AD Schema snap-in)? If so, then try and install this one manually. YOu can manually install individual tools from the MSI.

hope this helps
