    Protecting a table within Word 97

    I have a table I’ve created in Word and I just want to be able to tab and add data between the fields in my table and I don’t want to be able to change anything else on the document, column headings etc. The table now allows me just to tab between the fields within the table but I can change other things within the document. I’ve played around with the protect document feature on Word but I can’t make it do what I want it to. How can I do this?
