proxy client 2.0 setup on win2Kpro

By Stevan ·
we are upgrading our workstations from win98 boxes to win2kpro boxes and when i go to run the proxy client setup from the I386 dir. it tells me to run setup from the original share point. and that the end of that so what i've done is run the 9x setup and the proxy works but now the computers will not shutdown all the way. my question is way can't i run the I386 setup? I've tryed reinstalling the client set part of proxy but it din't seem to help.

You should be running the client setup from the mspclnt share on the proxy server. This is a client setup folder that is automatically created when you install proxy 2.0 and contains setup files for all OS's. Actually, I don't believe there is anydifference between the client program for Win9x and Win2K, as proxy is a pretty uncomplicated program. That said, I have found that the older proxy client has a few problems on Win2K systems. If all you are using Proxy for is web browsing, not running any programs that require Winsock connections, you can forego the proxy client entirely and just set up your web browser properties to connect through the proxy server. Hope this helps!
