By laxmisushuma ·
In a network, we have a server and x no of workstations. Our server is connected to internet. We need to access this server not directly but through another system. Is it possible if yes how and what are the proxies(free ware)available.

Thanksin advance
Sushma

Sushma,
You can use Linux Server, attach it to Internet & downlaod their free goodies like Proxy Server, which is free for Linux + a firewall.
But I would recomend you use MS Proxy 2.0 on NT 4.0 or ISA 2000 Windows 2000 Server.

Are you trynig to access the "internet connected server" remotely (from another server/worklstation, or are you trying to access the internet from another machine on the network?

If you're trying to access the server remotely, you may want to give VNC a try. It's a public domain (free) remote access tool http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/download.html

If you're tryiong to access the Internet from another machine on the network, try one of the many free proxy servers (if "free" is the main ingredient for you). http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/network/proxy.htm

Good luck
Marius
