Proxy Server Client for Win2k

By CatctusTater ·
Has anyone had any success using the NT client for Proxy Server 2.0 on a 2K workstation. This client is running a Windows NT 4.0 Server with MSPS 2.0.

Thanks in advance.

I've used MS Proxy server 2.0 on a W2K DC and have clients connect to the internet via the Proxy server. Works great. I've since migrated to MS ISA Server and again not many problems with client connections to the internet[though protocol rules and packet filter rules tend be a chore to setup and maintain].

note: I have two computers off the main network that connect to the internet directly from the network DSL router. The network computers use ISA server [placed between the DSL router and the DC] for their connections. Those network computers actually have a "faster" internet page load time than the two who are not on the network but use the network DSL router.[hope the boss doesn't see this].

Thanks for the help. Just to clarify the PDC for this network is a Win NT 4.0 Server and the Desktop that is logging in is a Win2K box. Were any of the clients connecting using a MSPS 2.0 client on Win2K boxes?

The Proxy server 2.0 is on a W2K server, not an NT server. A variety of MS O/S's are being used from W98, ME, W2K Pro. One of the setup issues we ran into with Proxy 2.0 was that Web Server uses http uses port 80 so we had to change the proxy serverhttp port settings in the master browser IE to 8080 [and configured clients IE to use 8080]. That was about the only hitch we had.

Ah! misunderstood your question. Can W2k machines use the NT proxy server clent software. If the W2K machines are logged onto the domain[regardless if it's NT or W2K servers] and proxy server 2.0 is installed and used, as long as their browsers are setup to use the proxy server and associated port number , they should be able to use Proxy 2.0 as their internet access pathway.
