Proxy Server & Internet Printer Sharing

by laj . Updated 24 years, 11 months ago

I would like to know if it is possible to host internet printer sharing through a NT 4.0 Server w/SP6a & Proxy Server 2.0 w/SP1.

I have a web address configured to redirect with Web Proxy through the Proxy Server to our internal Windows 2000 Server that handles our network printer queues —
(redirect=http://internal ip addr/printers)

I have tried to find articles and information about this, but I have not had much luck. I believe I have everything
configured as it should be, but I haven’t gotten it to work yet.

Is it possible to do what I am trying here?

Or is Internet Printer Sharing only work directly through a Windows 2000 Server (and not redirected)?

If it doesn’t work as I have suggested, then what if I upgraded my Proxy Server to a configuration of Windows 2000 Server + Proxy Server 2.0 – there is a MS KB Article on how to set this up — although it looks somewhat challenging.

Any help / tips are greatly appreciated.
