You don't, and why would you?

Visual Studio is for writing .Net code, including ASP.Net; it is not very good for general purpose Web site editing, and it certainly is not for editing proprietary Adobe formats, or even open multimedia formats such as SWF and FLA. In other words, he answer is "Visual Studio will allow you to have these files as part of a project to be linked to within the site, but it will not edit them."

One reason in VS2005

Convenient to publish the website, after building it. If one were to have all the images in, say, an image folder under 'app_data', when the website gets published (Build->Publish Website...) the images would be deployed as well.

I am not sure if he is looking for editing those images using VS.

Hi Justin,

Sorry for the dely in replying, with regards to the PSD file i wish to just use it as a background for a masterpage and child pages with content placeholders, then code it with ASP.Net for the site map as i have no clue about actionscript or such like.

Garrie.

Don't use PSD for Web

by Justin James Contributor In reply to Master page

Seeing as no Web browser that I am aware of supports PSD as an image format, you will not be going anywhere with this idea. You need to use JPG, PNG, or GIF. You may be able to get away with BMP or TIFF as well, but I am not 100% sure of that.
