PST CORRUPTION

by malantj . Updated 14 years, 10 months ago

Hi Guys

I got a bit of an issue. I work for Sasol and help maintain hardware and software, doing troubleshooting for various issues.
My issue today i think is one of stupidity but i though i would ask to be sure.

We have had a few PST corruptions during our backup and reload process (Backup of data and reload of OS) at our workshop…. now this occurs after information is backup’d to a backup server and then copied back to the freshly installed OS (WIN XP and WIN 7) now my boss has asked me to test between different Outlook versions (XP, 2003 and 2007) but we have never had issues merely coping the data.

It is only when the laptop or desktop is backup’d to our server that the PST’s go corrupt.

It is pretty clear to me that the problem is probably bad sectors on the backup server as we know how brittle PST’s are and the slightest corruption and it wont open.

IF ANYONE HAS ANY OTHER IDEAS PLEASE LET ME KNOW AS I THINK MY BOSS IS PUTTING ME ON A GOOSE HUNT BY INSTALLING DIFFERENT OS’S and Outlook versions which will take me a few hours and give us 0 results… DOESNT MAKE SENCE.

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated
