PSt fiel central managemnet

I need a solution for managing about 30 user’s PST files. I know that outlook has to be closed to back them up so it’s kind of a pain to go around and close everyones outlook and do it manually. Is there a batch script solution that can take care of this? Also I know there is software out for PST management but I am trying to get around that. If anybody has accomplished this I would love to hear any suggestions.
