Public Webserver on Private IP

by jm . Updated 25 years, 8 months ago

Hi everyone,

I have a customer who wants to host a public webserver using a private IP. He has a frame relay connection to a Cisco 2500 router. He only has 1 public IP address – it is assigned to the router. How can he put a webserver behind the router ? I know about NAT, but how would that work when you let the ISP host the DNS? How would NAT know if you were trying to access the webserver or another host on his private LAN? He does not want to host any of his own DNS servers. Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
David
