Hi, I know this is probably not what is expected on this forum, but I thought I’d give it a try anyway.
I am a Year 12 student in Australia, and I am now faced with the decision of what course to do at uni. I have narrowed my choices down to a BInfo Tech, and B Computer Science, or a combine B Maths/B CompSci (with the proviso that the advantages of doing a combined degree far outway the extra time and work involved). However, I don’t know what area of computing I want to go into as a career, and I don’t know if there are any advantages of one of these courses over the others. So, I was wondering if anyone could offer some advice: I don’t want anyone to say “do this course because…”, but rather some different options, opinions, and perspectives from people (in Australia would be the most relevant, but I welcome any advice) from various areas of computing. For example, f anyone reading this is involved with hiring new employees, what sort of qualifications would you look for in a graduate? Or, what would be the best degree if I chose to go into research and design? Or programming? That sort of thing.
As I said, I would welcome any advice you may offer.
