Query on filepaths

Using Windows ME I open a wordfile through the Desktop My Documents icon and the pathway is C:\KPCMS\My documents\Abc Ltd.

Opening a similar file through Explorer I find word files saved in C:My Documents\Letters\Xyz Ltd.

I do not know why some files are saved in the latter directories and this means they are not accessed when I use the normal Desktop icon.

Is the KPCMS folder a ME programmed directory for the Desktop? If I delete this directory would C:My documents\… automaticallybe the path using the Desktop icon?
