Actually, my company want to using one server host two of portal web site, it is like YAHOO, provide the Streaming Video, e-commerce online shopping cart, forum …. but I really don’t know how many person will connect to our web site. And our line just only 2M/2M connect to the internet …
My boss is budget SME in Hong Kong … so only can choose SonicWALL TZ 170 with Standard OS (Actually, not include the Anti-Virus, GAS, IDS etc, the price need over HKD 8000, my boss hate this brand since this service is independent) and the Taiwan’s brand ZyXEL 5 UTM …
I want to ask, on my case, have more than one server, now total 6 server … cal. the firewall rule, TZ 170 only can add 100 rule, but 5 UTM can add max 350 …
For the custom service for the non-stand TCP/UDP port, TZ 170 I don’t know how much I can add by the Standard OS (If anyone know the maximum, please tell me), 5 UTM can add 50 service ….
For the firewall thoughput TZ 170 just only 8Mbps (After enabled the Anti-Virus etc fuction), 5 UTM have 10Mbps (Enabled the Anti-Virus etc)
For the concurrent session, TZ 170 have 6000, 5 UTM have 4000.
I want to ask, for the application like my case, what part is the performance more important? The firewall thoughput or the concurrent sessions??
I really have not experience on this, so worry choose a wrong firewall, then my boss angry with me.
Hope here have experts give me some suggestion on above two firewall which one will be better to meet my case … also need consider the Fireware update, support etc .. ZyXEL look like not need other fee …
