Question on XP directory properties

By aa8vs ·
I take any directory view it through properties and uncheck 'read only', then apply it and it seems to go through the motions and completes.

I look at properties again and it still shows 'read only' checked. There must be something somewhere resetting it. I have tried on-line MS help and don't think I can phrase question correctly.

There is something obviously simple I am missing but I am missing it...

Chuck

Check for inherited attributes from a higher directory. XP by default will inherit the attributes of the parent directory. You will need to go to the security Tab of the Properties window and then click on the advanced Button to access the inherit function.

Don't worry about it. It's a way MS checks if a folder is a system folder

I check and when I bring up properties I do not see a security tab??

I see General, Sharing, Customize tabs

Where did I miss that one?
