Quick Launch in Win95

By HereInOz ·
Hi All,

This could be a dumb question, but I have seen a Windows 95 installation with a quick launch toolbar, complete with destop icon - the works.

To my knowledge this feature did not happen until Win98, but I could be wrong, and it was definitely the original Win95 system that had it. Is there a way that I can put a quick launch toolbar on the taskbar of a Win95(b) installation?

I would be a very happy man if there is!!

Looking forward to an answer.

The quick launch feature is part of Active Desktop.

The "easiest" way to add quick launch and the other active desktop features to a W95 system is to install IE4 and answer yes when asked if you wish to install Active Desktop.

The only place I know of to download IE4 is from the browser archive at

I recall seeing work-arounds posted for installing Active Desktop without IE4, but can't remember where.
