Is client side executable code, such as javascript, flash, activex and client side java , a sane option to use for initiating an encrypted communication tunnel between a website and a visitor’s system?

a fairly simple yes or no is all that’s needed. Feel free to be more expressive if you want though.

and for the record, it’s my opinion that they all are absolutely the worst idea for this purpose.
