Quick time and mpegs (conversion)

by itcanada . Updated 25 years, 1 month ago

I use a sony dv camcorder. I recently purchased intro dv to transfer the movies from the camcorder to my computer. The intro dv software creates quicktime *.mov files. this works but is very sluggish when used on a 350 mhz machine. I am using an 850mhz machine and have no problems. But to share my movies with other slower machines, it is not very impressive. Can I convert quick time *.mov files to mpegs. Just like the images you receive in e-mails as attachments from friends/advertising/etc.? Or is there an easier way to create mpegs from my camcorder?
