QuickBooks Pro on W2K Terminal Server

By BPorter ·
I know that Intuit says that their product is not designed to run in a terminal server environment, but has anyone been able to get the app to run properly?

We have it installed on our TS and can all get to the app, but the settings for each session are established by whomever starts the app first.

Any ideas?

TIA,

Byron

QuickBooks Pro on W2K Terminal Server

Unless things have changed considerably at Intuit recently, Quickbooks is not a network-aware application. Although you can store your databases on a server, Quickbooks will not actually run in a multi-user environment - it is a single-user application. Therefore, the only way I can think that you could do this would be to actually install the application separately under each terminal session, and install it to a specific location for each user (i.e., in a separate folder), so that each useractually has their own Quickbooks installation. This would probably work, but I haven't actually ever tried it. I have seen this done with another application I use that has a similar "footprint" in that it is a single-user application that is designed to be installed on a workstation and connect to a shared database file on a server. Hope this helps!
