Quota

By don_pham ·
Hi all,
How can i use the "Quota" in Windows 2k server to manage "Directory" not the Volume without using the active directory. For instant that i have brand new windows 2k server and it configures two disks; one is Basic for system files and Dynamic is the User homedir and groups file system. I would like to move users home directory to win2k server, but we are not ready to use Acitve Directory. In the "Quota" how can i limit the users homedir? Do i have to create mutiple volume for users? Nah.... I am greatly appreciated for your answer!!!
Thanks!
Don

Quota

Not, at least not with MS tooling.
Quota management (on a per-user basis) is a function handled by ADS. Appararently you use W2K server as a standalone server.

You might have a look at the 3rd party tools in this area, e.g. Quota Server and Quota Manager. Not only are they doing a better job than MS with ADS enabled (quota on a per-directory basis, not only per-user) but they also have NT Server versions. These versions might be adapted/adaptable to a W2K standalone server, as the SAM on such a server is similar to a NT Domain.

Hope thiz helpz,
