Qwest broadband vs. internal modem

By conn0822 ·
I recently had Qwest broadband connected to my home. I have a Dell Inspiron 530 computer with an internal 56K PCI Data Fax Modem. Are these compatible? What kind of cable do I need to connect to the internet with or is it a wireless modem?

A 5k modem is not compstible with any kind of broadband and can only be used for dialup access.

Most likely Qwest will let you rent or buy a DSL modem or router, I believe the router they typically offer can also serve as a wireless access point. You would then connect your laptop to the modem using a CAT5 cable or wirelessly if you chose the router.
