On 7/14/00 I installed a DPT SmartRaid Controller (PM1564U) into a new server. The server operating system is NT4 with service
pack 5. The Raid 5 Cluster is 4 each Seagate Barracuda ST318416W 18.4Gb SCSI Drives. The system has been operating without any problems until 3/8/01.
The first occurrence of an error occurred on 3/8/01; the following are the error messages in the NT system event log file:
“A strip set or volume set member listed in the configuration information was missing.” (thiserror was listed 3 times)
“A FT set containing \Device\MissingParityStrip1Member0 cannot be
used.”
On 3/15/01; the following error messages:
“The previous system shutdown at 3:38pm on 3/15/01was unexpected”
“The fault tolerant drive detectedthe system was shut down dirty”
“A strip set or volume set member listed in the configuration information
was missing.” (3 times again)
“A FT set containing \Device\MissingParityStrip1Member0 cannot be
used.”
The exact same errors (as on 3/15/01) have occurred again on 3/21/01 and 3/22/01.
The error logs in the DPT Manager have been reviewed and there are no problems listed. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this problem would be appreciated.
