Raid 5 Failure

By alex2470 ·
I have a Compaq ML 370 server with a Smart Array 221 Comtroller configured as Raid 5 with 6 18.2 GB drives.

One of the drives failed, and is now being issued an ID of 13. The new drive gets an ID of 5. No matter what I do, the array still sees a drive with ID 13 as having failed. I don't know where it is getting this ID number as all the drives have ID from 0 to 5

I have been told the only way to solve this is to re-do the whole server, but this is not an option at the moment.

did you hot swap the hard drive or you just installed other one but keep failed hard drive in the system?

Or you can use compaq array configuration utility to disable the fail hard drive

I hot swapped the drive and replaced it with a new drive. I have Smart Start 4.80 and cannot see the option to disable a drive.using the Array Config Utility..Please assist with instructions on how to do this
