RAID is an acronym for Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks. It refers to using multiple hard drives configured to appear as one, either through hardware or software, for performance, fault tolerance or both. The most common RAID configurations are RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 3, and RAID 5. You can find more information here:
