Raid controller card

What is the difference between a single & a dual cahannel Raid controller card & which one do i use for a unix server running Raid 5 ??

Depends on how many devices you need to run; depends on the controller as well; depends onwhat you are willing to spend, etc. You need to read the specifications and understand the limits of each card that you are looking at.

SmartRAID IV controllers from DPT allow you to add extra SCSI channels onto the base, single channel adapter. Starting with the base adapter, you can add support for one or two additional SCSI channels, providing support for up to 45 devices from a single slot. SmartRAID IV controllers are also available in two and three channel models.
