Yes, Raids can be partitioned into multiple logical drives. How this is done, however depends on your OS and your raid implementation. There are 3rd party software solutions etc also...

Take a look here for all kinds of information on RAID under Win2k (I think Win2k will only let you do this with Dynamic drives, btw):

http://www.labmice.net/Windows2000/diskmgmt/RAID.htm

Take a look here for Linux (Redhat) info:

http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/RHL-7.2-Manual/custom-guide/software-raid.html

delete any spaces in the URLs

Hope this helps. Good luck!

TYVM Alpha-Male, your answer is exactly what I need, though in the future I'll be a "weee" bit more specific..lol...this question was of a general nature, not os specific@all I also should have specified raid implementation..(though you did conjecture which raid I had reference to) ty again Uve_Got_Male

Assuming you're refering to a Raid 5 array, no it cannot be partitioned without losing the data. The parity information (which gives it its fault tolerance)is calculated based on the information on the other drives in the array. If you partitioned one of these drives, then the parity information calculated would no longer be accurate, thereby invalidating the fault tolerance of the array.
