Not familiar with your board, but check bios to see if you need to set your memory type and speed. FSB should remain at 400mhz.
Also check to see if you must install in pairs.
Common memory problems are modules not seated fully. Remove and reseat carefully.
How many chips does your old memory have? Odd number of chips on a board will indicate ECC type memory. Even number indicates non-ECC memory.

First question is: does your motherboard support DDR RAM? Apparently you ogiginally had SDRAM installed. DDR should not fit in an SDRAM slot due to keying.

If your motherboard supports both SDRAM and DDR RAM, there may be a jumper that needs changing to swap from one memory type to the other.

If I remember right SDRAM and DDR Ram do do mix.
Use only SDRAM or DDR Ram not both on the same motherboard.

go to the motherboard site and check the info and setup documention for your MB

good luck
