Random beeps, no video

by mgill . Updated 18 years, 7 months ago

I opened my case the other day to clean a lot of excess dust that had gathered in the case fans and such using some compressed air. In the midst of my cleaning frenzy, I took the CPU fan off of the motherboard, as well as my RAM. I replaced everything and booted up my system only to hear random beeps (continuous, but some lag behind, noticeably) and receive no video.

I’m well aware that a continuous beep refers to a problem with my RAM. I have checked each stick of RAM (I have 2 512’s) and tried them in all of the sockets. I made sure there aren’t any bent pins on the CPU, and got nothing.

It still isn’t working, and I need the system back ASAP. Finals are next week. 🙁

Did I inadvertently fry my motherboard? Could this be a PSU problem (AGP video fan also stopped spinning)? Is it the video card itself?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PS: I’m running a Gigabyte K8N Pro motherboard.
