RAS (either in BDC or Member Server) ?

By k_grg ·
Hello all,

I have been debating if I should instal RAS in BDC or Member Server. Some have recommended me to install it in Member Server for better security to DBC and PDC, wheareas, some say BDC. I am bit confused.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank You
Shailesh

I would install it in a member server just offload the work that the BDC/PDC's in your org are already doing.

Definitely install RAS on a member server for ease of trouble shooting. This way you don't compromise users logon and can bring down and up the server at will.

Enjoy!

Install it on a member server. The DC's have other jobs to do and you do not want a problem with ras affecting them. Depending on the implementation the addion of ras can add a lot of overhead to the server and it's network connections. Also a ras server is a direct link into a computer and you don't want to make it any easier for a malicious person.
