RAS Modems

By michael_mayer ·
Hi,

This is my first time writing in. I am having some difficulty with RAS
recognizing a modem. Are some modems not RAS capable? if so how do you know
previous to purchase.

The modem is installed and verified by using hyperterm and receiving the OK
after typing the AT command. However, when I try to install RAS or Dial-up
Networking, I get a message indicating that no RAS capable device is
available. The modem wizard appears, and I go through the detection process
and it finds the modem, but then back at the RAS screen no modem is listed.

TechNet article 168731 indicates that Telephony Service may not be
installed. Checking Telephony in Control Panel indicates the unimodem is
installed for the modem in question.

Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

RAS Modems

Have not run into quite this problem before, but similar. Sounds like a bad or conflicting install. As I recall, I ended up removing RAS, removing the modem, then searching the registry for any traces of the modem and major RAS entries and deleting. Then started from scratch.

RAS has not installed, I tried removing the modem several time already, and I have found no traces of the install in the Registry. But, thanks anyway.
