    RAS not Connecting

    Locked

    by eagletec9 ·

I have a RAS Server with an external modem, the problem is when I try to dial to the RAS it sounds like it’s getting connected but never establish the connection with the other computer.
I already check the configuration in the RAS and the modem and it’s suppose that is OK.
Did somebody have this problem before????

A couple of things to try-
There may be a problem with you logon name and password that you use to CONNECT does not match the one you use to log on to your local system. When connecting to the RAS server, the logon name and password you enteris used only for access to the RAS server. Your logon name and password you use to log on to the local system then takes control of network resources. If this seems to be your problem connect to the RAS server, but log off from the network by right clickingon the appropriate domain or server in Network Neihborhood. Then open the server or domain by double-clicking on it, there will be a prompt to log on again. Here use the correct user name and password to access the network resources. Or,create a new local account that matches the one the network requires.

i agree with the previous answer, but there could be something else as well. Make sure that you have given yourself the right to dialin. you do this under your profile in user manager for domains. the other thign is who is giving you your IP address. are you getting one from your local DHCP or is it fixed. i presume that your using a laptop and not from another domain. if it’s from another domain then you’ll need to use a router, because of the difference in IP and subnet masks between the two domains. If you don’t wont to buy a router then you could go with a little known app called RRAS from Microsoft. read the data on the app and you should be ok.
      hope it helps
