RAS problems

By aduran ·
I have RAS set up on my Win NT server. When the users dial in to upload or download information, sometimes it connects fine and lets them do what they need and other times it connects but when they try to access the information it states "There has been no response from the server".

The users then try again a few seconds later and it will work (sometimes). Other times they have to keep trying a few times.

Any suggestions? My users are getting a little annoyed.

Thanks
Angie

reinstall sp6a on the server.
check the protocols the users are using (in the connection to the server) and in the properties fo the ras server too (try to use only tcp if possible).

If the problem is not in the software, this can also be a hardware problem that plagued many ISPs in years gone by.
The problem is in the incompatabilities between the chipsets of the various MODEMs, and the Router or RAS board.
The newer stuff is less prone to this problem, but some of the older stuff can be a real pain. (Lucent)
Do you know anybody who was a Tech for an ISP, 5 years ago?
They know immediately, what works with what.
Regards, Chris
