RAS Problems

By Sprocket ·
Ok, my NT knowledge went out of the window with the arc, but one of our Laptops came back to me, strangely installed with NT. Reinstalling it is not an option.

The problem reported to me was that the modem wasn't dialling out. After first look, the modem cable connectors were broken from user mishandling, so I replaced it. (PCMCIA).

This however did not fix the issue with dial out.
In the event viewer we are getting these errors:

ID#7024 The Remote Access Connection Manager service terminated with service-specific error 615

ID#20032 Remote Access Connection Manager failed to start because it could not load one or more communication DLLs.

ID#7007 The Remote Server service depends on the NetBEUI Protocol service which failed to start because of the following error: The system connot find the file specified.

ID#7001 The Remote Access Autodial Manager serice depends on the Remote Access Connection Manager service which failed to start because of the follwoing error: The service has returned a service-specific error code.

ID#7026 The following boot-start or system driver failed to load: opl3sa

Like I said my NT experience is well gone. If anyone can help me fix this, with all the NT help I need, and step by step, then there is a big points reward.

Firstly I would remove the modem and uninstall any software relating to it and reboot.

Once this is done uninstall the Remote Access Service and the NETBEUI protocol and reboot. This can be done by right clicking Network Neighbourhood.

Once rebooted reinstall the NETBEUI protcol and reboot again then reinstall the Remote Access Service.

Then reinstall the modem. If this doesn't work try installing a different modem just to check.

The error relating to opl3sa appearing to be coming from a Yamaha sound card, so you could disable that.

Let me know how you get on.

Good luck.
