We are using a VPN router for RDP access from outside to a number of boxes, with different RDP ports set up on the different machines. Port forwarding on the router takes care of this OK, plus other forwards for SSH, web, etc.
Works well for a number of XP Pro PCs; we just RDP to xx.xxx.xxx.xx:port, and all is fine.
Yesterday I needed to set up WAN access to a Server 03 (Standard Edition) box we have. Changed the port to 1685, tested OK on our LAN. Set up the forwarding on the router OK, but NO remote access. I even changed the port on another PC to 1685 to make sure the forwarding was OK. Since all the other boxes are fine, and we can RDP to server OK from the LAN, I reckon it’s the server…Using RDP, not TS on the server.
My guess is it’s some firewall/IIS/ISA setting on the 03 server, but I’m way out of my comfort zone now, and Google is of little help. The standard windows firewall is not running on the server.
Any ideas?
