Re-Posting New Job Opportunity in IT Security???????

by auxperc68 . Updated 18 years, 5 months ago

I am a network administrator at a publishing company with 8 years experience in the IT field.

I have recently been offered an opportunity to get into the IT security field in the healthcare industry dealing with Sox, PCI etc. It seems there will be alot of documentation and processes involved with network access including router configuration for access.

Does this seem to be a good move considering the high demand for IT security skill sets and the lack of people able to fill them.

I know we could be headed for a recession and their is a risk of downsizing but in my position what would any of you do? It’s a lateral move paywise but the opportunity to learn a new skill as well as professional growth is very appealing!! My current job has hit the ceiling and there is nowhere to go. The only advantage I have is more job security but is there really such a thing as that anymore?

Professional opinions welcome
