Re USB Turntable

By gadjet ·
I bought one, from ION, not good I took it back, and went back to my old turntable with a audio converter. I tried everything I could think of with the Ion, first the tone arm was stiff in the gimble assembly, the balance mechanism was not accurate enough, the anti skate feature, didn't work. the cartridge and needle where not of good quality, then I tried my own cartridge, the counter balance would'nt work with it, I even tried adding lead(both cartridges counter balanced fine on my older Sony!) Overall, the idea was fine, the quality, well, it sucked!

He's replying to me.

Tell me, Gadjet, have you any thoughts about those ION turntables? I'm thinking of getting one to transfer my vinyl to mp3.

Runs from my receiver to a USB port. Good quality recording, fairly easy to use software.

I thought about it a couple of years ago

by The Scummy One In reply to This one of those tempora ...

and decided against it. First, in my case (I dont know about yours), it would have cost just a little more to purchase the cd's, and they would have better quality sound.
second, the old albums may be warped or scratched, or otherwise damaged being in storage for many years.
just a couple of things to think about.
