Read E-mail's Return-receipt script

The return-receipt, assuming the sending email program is aware of such a concept and the user selected to request a return receipt, is an email header just like From, To, Subject, etc. You read the return-receipt header just like you read these other headers.

To update a SQL table with the date and time would depend upon your programming language and your dbms. In general, you'll open a connection to the database and run a SQL query, either inserting or updating a row in whatever table you want to store the data in.

If you want to provide more details about your situation, I might be able to give a more precise answer.

What I'm planning to do is to read a return receipt, use the data in the subject to update that specific data on the SQL table with date and time read.
