Read only

I have windows 2003 server and I ahve shared folder but I can't modify that folder when I check folder properties I found read only is checked the I tried to uncheck the small box but still checked , is there any way to remove read only forever.

what happens after you do a chkdsk /f ?

Hi there

You may want to check the file permissions of the share NOT just the NTFS permissions. Under Win2003, the default share permission is set to read only for all users. This is a change from Win2000 and NT4 when the default was full control to all users, and you had to then go back and restrict access.

Ignore the read only attribute. Its a feature, the files are not really read only.
