Read only Attributes on Folders

By ldodson ·
All folders on my XP workstations have read only attributes set when viewing from Explorer. The read only attribute is not there when I use "Attrib" from the command line. I am having some difficulty with some video capture programs that seem to think that they can not write to the drives. I have done all Updates from MS and tried the registry hacks from MS. Any ideas?

It doesn`t matter. Its a feature of XP for folders. Its usually NTFS permissions that can make a folder read or r/w. Ignore the attribute.

Have uninstalled and reinstalled, have tried resetting the DEP for the specific programs...ect

Disable simple file sharing in the folder options - view section. This will give you more command of your files and folders. I had the same problem.
