RealAudio through ISA server

By drakich ·
Hi there

I have Windows SBS 2000 server with 30 Win98/2000 clients. We have ADSL Internet connection through ISA server that works fine. However, when trying to listen Real Audio files,RealOne player comes with an error message and closes down. How ISA server and the clients should be configured in order to allow RealAudio files to go through?
Thanks.

Using RealPlayer G2

Go to your RealPlayer G2 View menu and make sure the Normal setting has been selected.
Go to the Options menu and select Preferences
Click on the Transport option at the top of the Preferences box, click the Auto Configurebutton located in the Network Transport section. The Automatically Select Best Transport option must be chosen in order to make this button functional.
Click OK to begin the auto configure process
Once the process has completed, click OK to exityour preferences. You should now be able to hear the contest RealAudio clip with your RealPlayer G2.

Using RealPlayer 5.0:

Go to your RealPlayer View menu and select Preferences
Click on the Transport option
Select the tab next to "Use HTTP only"
Try listening to the music clips again

If you are still unable to listen to RealAudio clips, you may also be able to set your RealPlayer to accommodate the firewall by setting it (also in the Transport area) to use UDP on a single portor TCP only.

RealAudio Server communicates header information and statistics via TCP on port 7070, so this port must be open to TCP traffic in both directions. The actual media stream is transmitted using the UDP protocol, on a port between 6970and 7170. This range of ports must be open for incoming UDP traffic. On ISA 2000, in the protocol rule that you had made, indicating these ports to be allowed to access to the specific destination.

Have a nice day! 8 )

Install the firewall client on your clients and make sure your access policy is allowing RealAudio files.
