receive email of events

By rgun2515 ·
Does anyone know how to set event viewer to send email to someone on a specific event. If Microsoft Windows Server Event Viewer can't, are there any programs that can monitor event viewer and send the info on?

Microsoft Operations Manager could be useful for monitoring Servers, set up Alerts and so on.

For PCs, use perfmon.msc to set up alerts if specific things go wrong eg disk full, cpu high , low memory etc.

Good question, I administer more than 8 distant backup servers using vertias backup exec and instead of launching the remote console every time to check if backup is working fine, veritas backup exec has the ability to setup email alerts.
And currently I am asking the same question as you ask.
Just an idea which I will test; if we use perfmon.msc and setup a new alert then define the action we can use the execute this program check box and here we have to use program that can send emails via command line like this one: http://www.febooti.com/products/command-line-email/

Please feedback
