Recover efs cryptd file from other hdisk

by cinimod711 . Updated 20 years, 1 month ago

Hello, I have a question.
Is it possible to recover an efs encrypted file from another hdisk using a new hard disk where WinXP Pro Sp2 is installed?

Hdisk A – used to be the old hdisk where some files were encypted using WinXP Pro’s option to encrypt files

Hdisk A crashed bad and windows could not boot anymore – tried everything else but just wont boot.. so decided to purchase a new hdisk (Hdisk B).

Installed WinXP Pro SP2 on Hdisk B,
set Hdisk B as primary, set Hdisk A as secondary,
when Hdisk B was fully setup with WinXP and all other programs, i started copying files from Hdisk A to the new Hdisk B. Unfortunately, some folders i recall were encrypted with WinXP’s native efs encryption. I do not have a key/certificate for the encryption in Hdisk A 🙁

Knoppix cant access the files from HDisk A either =(

still hope? help!?
