hi I have to recover files from a hard drive that I have removed from my laptop as it won't boot.
i have it in a caddy. I have recovered intact most of my files from one of the partitions. one partition remains inaccessible. I have tried variouos downloaded opartition recovery programs and saved the raw data. how do I convert it back so that I can see my photos, hear my music etc?

If there is any form of Encryption Involved and you no longer have the Encryption Key things will get very difficult and expensive.
If you have used any Encryption Software at all you should pack the drive up Not Touch it and send it off to a Data Recovery Specialist who can work with Encrypted Data to remove the Encryption. You will not be able to do anything without a Backup of the Key. Even then without the right OS to work with you are up against things.
For example XP's EFS works very well but is incompatible with either Vista or 7 so you need a XP Pro System to have any hope of recovering the data in a readable form.
If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem. Also please exercise your best judgment when posting in the forums--revealing personal information such as your e-mail address, telephone number, and address is not recommended.
