recovering a hard drive and files

By jonnywaz85615 ·
How can I recover a 30GB hard drive.

My system was constructed to run dual OS's.
Win98(Fat32)/ XP Pro(NTFS).

I recently tried deleting the Win98 and in the process deleted not only this OS, but also my boot partition, and destroyed the partitions setup and lost everything.

I lost all my personal data, documents, a large mp3 and video collection.

I have since tried to recover and restore this situation with no success.

I purchased a second, new HD and have since reinstalled XP.I am up and running again, but would really like to recover those files and transfer them to the new HD.

I have tried a couple of programs, such as, EasyRecover Professional 6.0. Recovery has not been as positive as I would like.

Files have not recovered as expected.

Would it be better to use a DOS based program?

Got any suggestions???

Sure could use some help!!!!!

Thanks.

Hi, there,
After the lose of the information, have you tried anything on the disk? such as chkdsk, etc.. before you try anything else.

If you have an Emergency startup disk from Windows 98, you may be able to restore some information back.

Other than the above disk, I don't see anything else working right.
I just lost everything out of my Win2k main system without any reason. I did not have emergency boot disk from Win2k, so there was no choice, but to reinstall everything.
In Win2k,I could back up the directory information with registry backedup together which could have been a possible solution for my problem.

Mail the drive into one of those drive recovery places they will be happy to do it for $1500. They will send your data back on CDROM.

Just kidding i am sure there is some freeware that will do this for you.
