Is the Windows 2000 ERD of any help ? The disk cannot and does not hold registry information. So in case of a disaster, what you would need are the original System State files backed up (hopefully to a safe location). Now let’s say the system has crashed and we’re dealing with a corrupt registry and a blue screen, how would we be able to bring the system to a state where we could recover the System State using the WinNT Backup/Restore program ? Wouldn’t the system first have to be made bootableto Windows 2000 in order to be able to restore the registry and the System State? Does this mean installing a parallel installation of Win2K and then running the NT backup program, importing the System State backup file and then restoring to “Original location” ?
