Type of Router

by SAJChurchey In reply to Recovering Router IOS Ima ...

What make and model of router are you using? What version of the firmware is corrupted, and what version do you want to install?

How did the firmware get corrupted to begin with?

You may need to find a way to boot the device into a safe/diagnostic mode to re-install your own firmware if it will not boot off the installed firmware.

Download the firmware from...

The internet and save a copy of it on your computer that way if anything goes wrong all you do is go into the router settings and do a update from there.

Please post back if you have more problems or questions.

You will have to find the CD

that came with the router or download a copy from Cisco (registered members only). Cisco's site has all the info you need, including links to tftp servers etc. Its always a good idea to back up the IOS =(

Routers (by Cisco) don't come with a CD

that has the IOS on it.

I have learned how to recover from crashes and lost passwords, but never heard anything about recovery. While that doesn't mean you CAN'T, it doesn't seem likely.

The main thing, your config is toast.
