Recovery in Exchange

By ann ·
My small business server can't start it has some files corrupted and can't even start from the last known good configuration.

I have reinstalled Small business server on the other partition of the hard disk.

How do I

1. Recovery my Shared address book from exchange.Don't have a back up but I can copy files from the original drive.

2. How do I copy the individual mail boxes.
I have already created the users on the new partition with the same user name, pass word. The server also hasthe old domain name.

I'd recommend the exmerge utility, it allows you to export transfer etc from exchange to pst and vice versa, it will also allow you to pipe out your address and e-mails from the edb's. Good luck finding the utility, if you can't find it let me knowI might be able to round it up.
150 points for data recovery!! tsk tsk tsk

This is a long and technical process, you first have to check the integrity of you 'pub.edb' and possibly the 'priv.edb' if they are less than a couple of Mb then you have no database!
before you do anything copy the the priv and pub.edb files into a backup directory and any of the log files out of C:\exchsrvr\mdbdata
go to the \exchsrvr\bin and use 'MTACHECK /P /F' and check the errors
a lot more needs to be done(2-3hrs) - eseutil....isinteg, circ.logging etc etc
but run out of space- good luck

easy to copy email addresses once exchsrvr is up- login as admin-check recipients in exchsrvr admin under global/envelope to server to recipients and then in right pane click on a displayed name, double click on 'prinmary windows account' select existing windows NT acc.-select a name of a user in the list and 'ADD' and 'O.K.' repeat for other users easy see!!
