SITUATION
NW 5.0 SERVER, The SYS Vol was orginially duplexed across separate SCSI channels. Then expanded on a single drive.
One of the drives in the mirror went bad. The replacement drive would not sync up, and the server would hang trying torebuild. We broke the software mirror but the server will still not stay running for more than 5 minutes. The basic server platform and SCSI card have proven to be OK by the installation of new drives and OS. Naturally there is critical data on the SYS vol that has to be recovered and the dip wad responsible for backups was, well a dip wad. (Previous adminstration, enough said).
I suspect that some NW files have become corrupt.
We are considering two options:
Option 1:
A copy of SP5a is on the SYS vol. If this is run what are the prospects of recovery?
Option 2:
Can NW 5.0 be reinstalled on to the existing SYS vol with out destroying the data files?
