I had a fat32 40gb hard drive seperated into 2 partitions that were converting to ntfs by PMagic(both c: and d: were converted to NTFS). I used PMagic again to allocate more space to my D: drive, but halfway through the dos-based procedure, there was an error and the process stopped(it stopped during the c: drive procedure..so the d: drive should still be ok). I rebooted and windows xp didn’t start up. I ran fdisk to see the situation and found that both drives still ntfs. I tried booting with the xp cd and it says that my d: drive was ntfs and my c: drive was unknown. I slaved my hard drive on another machine running windows xp. I am thinking of running norton utilities or active@partition recovery but i don’t know if that will mess it up more. Is there anythign that I should look out for? Are there any better programs out there that I should be aware of? All my important files are on that c: drive and I would like them back. Someone..please help :S
